8 brave kickball armies have enlisted for an 8-week war that will determine which team has what it takes to become a Turf War Titan. Some of the participating teams are hardened kickball veterans while others are kickball privates fresh out of boot-camp. Will the veterans litter the fields with the tattered bodies of the unsuspecting rookies? Or will these new kickballers surprise the kickball elite? Well we are about to find out. Here is some intel on the teams competing:
Kicking While Intoxicated: KWI is the Blackwater of SCK's Turf Wars. This group of elite kickballers, were hand-picked to doing nothing more than destroy the competition. They are kickball mercenaries, plain and simple. They have undoubtedly the best roster of talent from top to bottom. Unfortunately all this talent will be useless without some chemistry. They already dropped their first game of the season to the always dangerous, Kicking & Screaming (A.K.A Balls to the Wall). It's already not looking good.
Kicking & Screaming: Already after one week of kickball, K&S is considered to be the front winner to win the Turf War title. They are by far the most experienced kickball team in town. You can credit multiple titles to this team. They own rights to 2 SCK - King of Kickball titles, as well as 2 State Kickball Championships, and are currently in contention for a national title coming up in Oct. for the Kickball 365 Circuit Cup. If you don't recognize the name, you might recognize one of the other names they play under: Dazed & Confused, Confused Kixxx, and Balls to the Wall. Although there are some small personnel changes and variations between the three different "teams", at its heart, it is in essence the same team.
Kick N Da Brown Chicken: SCK regulars will have no problem figuring out what two teams combined to make this strange kickball sandwich. The young kiddos of Kick N Da Balls combined with Brown Chicken Brown Cow to make a run for the Turf War title. Their 1st Week game against a short handed I'd Hit It squad was an absolute shoot-out. KNDBC had plenty of offense but unfortunately had ZERO defense. Which was heartbreaking considering they battled back during the 5th, only to lose their lead during the very next inning. The final was a barn burning 14-11 score, in favor of I'd Hit It.
Chiles Y Chilindrinas: Of the two rookie teams, C&C seems to be the more promising contender. Their Week 1 match-up consisted of them playing their rookie counter-parts, the Dodgers. Although C&C won their game by a very small margin ( 4-3), it seemed as if though they were really getting into the strategy of the game. The team was working on hammering out all the small little kickball details that makes any aspiring team a dedicated contender. Keep an eye on these kickballers.
Chupacabrones: They are another experience team and have been around the game for a long while. This team own rights to an SCK-King of Kickball title, as well as 2 State Championships that they won in combined team with Kicking & Screaming. The only problem is for the Turf War season, they will be playing short-handed, which may or may not be so much of a problem after all. Even with only 8 players, Chupa looked strong against a fumbling-stumbling Party Panda posse. Although Chupa has many of their strongest players, I'm sure Coach Vinny T had his entire kickballer arsenal at his disposal.
Dodgers: The other rookie team competing this season is team Dodgers. First and foremost, they already broke a cardinal kickball rule....and that is come up with a good kickball name or at the very least TRY to come up with a more imaginative name. But all kidding aside, this team is full of bunch of good folks looking to have a good time. They truly look like family out there.
I'd Hit It : Most recently I'd Hit It has decided to step out into the national kickball circuit. They are trying their hand at competing against some of the top kickball teams in the country. The Turf War season will act as this team's dress rehearsal for the much anticipated Kickball 365 Circuit Cup Championship in Las Vegas, to be held in October. I'd Hit It will be looking to put in some much needed time on the grass in preparation for their journey to Vegas. After Week 1, things are looking good as they had to problem on the offensive side of the ball by scoring 14 runs. Even though they allowed 11 runs to come in, they had to battle back to earn their win and that's where it counts.
Party Pandas: Well...the name says it all. They are pandas, who like to party. Chances are if they would stop rolling around in the grass and quit trying to eat it, they might be able to pick up a couple of wins. Oh! and they love hugs. So don't be afraid give them a big cuddly hug and feed them some bamboo.
