Chew...Chew...Chewing Gum! Its FUN, FUN, FUN!

Well no one could have claimed to be surprised with the results of the Spring 2012 Season. Since the very beginning of the season it was all but prophesied that KNS would make it into the final and win a staggering 4th King of Kickball. And they achieved just that!

I've said all season that Kickin' N' Screamin' is in a league all their own. All season they have played head and shoulders above the rest of the league. They are on a completely different level when it comes to competitive kickball and it doesn't stem from recruiting the best players or having ridiculously athletic folks on their roster. It all boils down to one thing: Teamwork.

The KNS crew has been together for a long while now, at least 4 seasons here at SCK. They know each other well and the play together well. They practice religiously and it obviously has paid dividends. Much of Kickball Nation may see their on-field demeanor as "extreme" or their coach's constant berating as "uncalled for". However; it works for them and it apparently works very well. Some kickballers find Kickin' N' Screamin's constant sweep of SCK awards to be stale and boring, but if anything it adds to the SCK storyline and will create new plots.

Four time champions are rare at any level of competitive play so things like this should be celebrated, not ignored or dismissed. It is an achievement noteworthy of praise and congratulations. So a big congratulations goes out to Kickin' N' Screamin', this season's King of Kickball Champions!

However, I would be remiss if I didn't mention the other 3 teams who made the King of Kickball Finals. Das Boot, Kixxx, and New Kicks on the Block. Although they fell a tad short of the ultimate goal, they all were there in the end contending for the title. Especially New Kicks on the Block, not take anything away from Das Boot or Kixxx, but New Kicks played some very inspiring kickball during Finals week. After coming dangerously close to forfeiting their Final 4 match-up, they were able to muster enough of troops together and with only 8 players, they were able to give Kixxx all they could handle and more. Powered by their "Chewing Gum Chant", New Kicks played one hell of a game. They made me a fan, for sure.

And with that the Spring 2012 Season comes to a close. Congratulations to all the teams on a very LONG and successful season. Thank you for participating and see you all next season!

Good Luck & Happy Kicking!
