Two small words can some up Week #3 quite easily, Uh and Oh. Kickball Nation was treated to, not one, but three big upsets on Wednesday night. For the past couple of seasons, the elite teams at SCK have used the regular season as one long practice. They would only take a couple of games seriously, usually when matched up against their tougher opponents. However in reality much of the season was prep work for the playoffs. That is all about to change... The gap between the mid-range teams and the top teams is becoming increasingly smaller with each passing week. The mid-range teams are growing by leaps and bounds. The veteran teams need to start taking note, because the younger franchises are starting to blossom.
As part of the Original Six, the Shocker name is synonymous with big time kickball. Most of Kickball Nation is familiar with their kickaball credentials. As two-time SCK champs and Final Four regulars, its hard not to be aware of their presence. However not all kickballers have taken notice of a newer franchise team, Suck My Kick, that is making big statements with their much improved kickball skills.
I'm sure many over-looked the match-up between the Shockers and Suck My Kick. However, this match up really peaked my interest. Especially after the Shockers started off their season with an Opening Day loss to Lights Out. This match up had upset written all over it. Suck My Kick has been slowly progressing up the kickballer ladder, while the Shockers are quickly tumbling off it. Granted that the Shockers aren't a horrible team, not by any means. They are just losing their killer instinct. They need to find it and quick or things may get worse for this veteran crew.
But I digress, Suck My Kick is the real story here. They were able to win their game 3-1 against an elite SCK team, even after one of their female players was kicked out of the game for "giving the ump the business", leaving them to finish the game with a 8 fielder defense. Not an easy thing to do. Nice work.
Another notable upset came at the hands of the often forgotten Scoregasms. They were slated against the veteran players of the Thundercats. Although the Thundercats only have 2 seasons with SCK, not consecutive seasons mind you, folks should be aware that they are in fact an elite kickaball squad. They have tons of tourney experience, as well as other league experience, but not with SCK. So when word came down that the Scoregasms took down the Thundercats, kickball insiders were in disbelief. However those in attendance say there was no question about it, the Scoregams were absolutely the better team on that field. Even though their win does seem marginal with a 3-2 final, a win is a win and they did make a statement. The Scoregasms have I'd Hit It next, which will be a better measuring stick and be a more telling match up. I'd Hit should be ready too, as they will be coming off of a 10-2 beat down of Pitch, Please. This will be a game to watch.
And finally, the Pièce de résistance, the unconvincing crew of Lights Out shocked last season's championship runner-up, Kixxx. I will be the first to admit I wasn't sold on Lights Out. Their off-season personnel changes made me weary and I just wasn't convinced watching them play. However they quickly changed my mind and much of Kickball Nation as they put away Kixxx by a close score of 2-1. Which now means that they have the Shockers and Kixxx on their kill board. They should have also had Kickers with a Drinking Problem, but that ended in a sister kissing contest.
Now in regards to Kixxx, they are nowhere close to panic mode. They had a huge 19-0 annihilation during Week #1 and then they had to battle back to a 5-2 win last week against Suck My Kick during Week #2. They are still the 2nd best team in the league; however the one thing that absolutely has to change is team morale. Kixxx has the mental toughness of a 8 week old infant. They break down way to quick and you can say it all over their faces. And no matter how many times their coach tries to rally them, his efforts are often in vain. From near fights within their own dugout and starting players showing up late, they need to start doing some internal inventory and fixing some things. Their few loses are not coming from play out in the field, they are coming from within the dugout.
Well that's all for now...
Good Luck and Happy Kicking

Was goin thru some old posts and saw 1 about Lucas, was wondering who the top players are overall. I was thinking he was 1 of them, is he? Kinda new at this I play for sons o pitches
Correction final score for Lights Out and Kixx was 2-0
Tough subject to cover for overall best players. That means good in so many different aspects of the game.. you need to be good at bunting, kicking, catching, being clutch, throwing, knowing where to go on certain plays.. we've tried to go over this just so many different opinions... its a little easier to do with the girls than the guys.
K so give me ur top 5 for each and y since ur the defending champ. U 2 blog writer I would like to know both your opinions
Rick is the best.
Marcos is #2.
Lucas is good, but haven't heard of him being a deep threat.
Ok i'll give my 2 cents for what its worth. However, whoever reads this, know this is just MY opinion and what I've seen since I started playing. I'll start with the girls. Might sound biased with the girls, but its truly what I believe. I'll give honorable mentions as well since I think the comp is pretty tight.
Honorable mention #1. Ivette Party Panda- Good Hands, Decent Speed, Decent bunting. Downfall is, no killer instinct.
Honorable mention #2. Alex KNS- Great speed, good bunting, best base runner. Downfall, lately has had bad hands, and lost the love for kickball.
Top 5 now
#5 Dora Shocker- Great hands, Good bunting, Decent Speed. Downfall, now is just a legend since we haven't seen her in a couple of seasons.
#4 Adriana Thundercats- Best first base girl, Solid kicking, doesn't drop anything. Downfall, plagued with injuries and no speed
#3 Chio KNS- Best bunter in entire league (including guys), fastest girl. Downfall, only plays in the summer and doesn't understand the game as well.
#2 Kelsey KNS- Great defense overall, has most homeruns by any girl, and throws the furthest. Downfall, bunting and speed.
#1 Nadia KNS- Although Rich and I disagree, I truly believe Nadia has the total package. She's #1 because she can do it all. The girl can bunt and kick with either leg. Best outfielder (maybe except other than that girl from DWKP), she's a great base runner, has really good speed, knows what to do in every situation. Most amazing part is, she does it at her age. Just glad she finally came to what most people would call "The Dark Side."
And now the guys. The guys are way more difficult to cover because of so many positions there are. Are pitchers the best? Are catchers the best? And so on. So This is my list in who I believe are best ALL AROUND.
Honorable Mention #1 Lucas I'd Hit it- What can you say, the guy is a playmaker, his teams NEEDS him to have a chance. Downfall, kicking, his base running is good, only problem is, getting on base.
Honorable Mention #2 Pipi Kixxx- Second fastest in entire league, Good bunting and kicking. Downfall, too wild, tries to do too much, and is a bit too cocky for his own good.
Top 5 guys
#5 Domino NKOTB- Possibly best runner, great bunter, another guy that his team needs to have a chance, Great hands. Downfall, can't blast, and when shows up drunk, misses balls constantly.
#4 Reid Drunken Monkeyz- Guy is a machine, 3rd fastest in the league, cant bunt and blast when needed, 2nd best catcher in the league. Downfall, Takes unnecessary risks when running bases at times.
#3 Marco KNS- Best catcher in the league, not a hot dog anymore. Great bunting and placing, and good base running. Downfall, lets people get in his head, and the boy has gained too much weight haha.
#2 Raul Kixxx- Boy is an animal. Used to be the second best outfielder until he got moved to third, shows versatility. Can blast very good (won furthest kick in Albuquerque), and bunt decently. Downfall, plays on the wrong team haha
#1 Angel Kixxx- No one really knows Angel from kixxx, but he is in my opinion the most well rounded guy. The kid is the best outfielder because he knows where to position himself every time, has never dropped a ball, can play third, and if he played first, I think he'd be the best first baseman in el paso. Best blaster (only comp is lorenzo from the monkeyz), great placement. And is the only kicker in my opinion that never needs to bunt, even if he's the first kicker. Most importantly him and raul are the humblest guys in the game.
Three interesting matchups today calls for three game of the weeks.
Game of the week #1: Kixxx vs Drunken Monkeyz
Here is your always intriguing clash of the titans. Two veteran teams going head to head. Both teams have seen the championship a total of six times, so we know both are really good and should make for an interesting game. The Monkeyz are coming off a season layoff with an injured pitcher, who I believe shouldn't be playing but is. The monkeyz are one of three teams left undefeated, but have yet to play any real competition. Will the jump be too much? Kixxx is an always dangerous squad if they come in with the right attitude. Three time runner up is no easy thing to accomplish. They are our buffal bills. Kixxx is coming off of a disappointing 2-0 defeat to lights out. Can they flip the switch today and hand the monkeyz their first loss of the season?
Spread: Kixxx -1.5
Prediction: kixxx 5 monkeyz 2
Game of the week #2: I'd hit it vs Scoregasms
Watch out now for the "average teams" to start moving on up. Scoregasms are coming off an impressive 3-2 win of the thundercats. Either the scoregasma are for real or maybe the cats just dont have it anymore. The gasms have a real test in I'd hit it. Can the gasm guys kick against sck's #2 best pitcher? Or will he be too much. Can I'd hit it keep scoring like they have? This is their best offensive season we have seen to date.
Spread: I'd hit it -.5
Prediction: I'd hit it 3 scoregasms 2
Game of the week #3: 4 play vs Drinkers with a kicking problem
4 play is a team that has players from former powerhouse team balls and dolls. They have a great defense, and that comes from seasons and seasons of learning the game and it always helps to have a top 5 pitcher in johnny 5. They have yet to allow a single point this season, but are facing a new deadly squad that scored over 60 runs last season. Drinkers with a kicking problem are last seasons rookie team of the year. Utep athletes always help to make a team better. Now, can they implement strategy into their game and compete with the top dogs? Either team has yet to lose but have swallowed ties this season. Veteran or rookie?
Spread: 4 play -1.5
Prediction: 4 play 2 Drinkers 1
Saw most of 2 of those games. I'd Hit It did good and never seemed in trouble. The late game at Memo V showed an amazing performance in the early going from Johnny with 3 strikeouts.
